Matside

Burlington rolls: Burlington defeated two area teams with relative ease at the Burlington duals, and the Demons appear to be going on a roll late in the season.

The Demons defeated Oak Creek, 47-22, by winning 10 of the 14 matches, and that included a forfeit that they gave up. Oak Creek was with out senior Ben Hakes (170), but it wouldn’t have mattered.

“Burlington wrestled really physical, and we weren’t ready for them,” said Oak Creek coach Matt Sommerville.

Burlington also defeated Mukwonago, 53-19, at the tournament.

Injury front: Hakes, Waterford senior Max Fisher (145) and Waterford freshman Jared Krattiger (160) are all expected back by the end of the month. Hakes has been nursing an injured knee. Fisher has been recovering from a dislocated elbow. Krattiger is suffering from an injured knee.

Big victory: Cedarburg senior Jason Ipsarides defeated Verona senior Eric Schmid by a 3-2 decision in sudden victory during Cedarburg’s 53-18 vicory over Verona at the Verona Duals. Ipsarides is ranked No. 3 at 152; Schmid is ranked No. 5 at 152.

Tosa comes close: Wauwatosa had a strong showing at the Cutler Classic, coming close but not quite catching Coleman for the team title at the 12-team invitational at New London.

Coleman, ranked No. 1 in Division 3, scored 250 points to defeat second-place Tosa (229.5). Tosa had all 14 wrestlers place sixth or higher, advanced four wreslters to the finals and came away with a pair of champions in junior Justin Folley (25-0 at 126) and senior Marcus Morrow (25-1 at 152).
